Algorithm and proof as Ω-invariance and transfer: A new model of computation in nonstandard analysis

چکیده

We propose a new model of computation based on Nonstandard Analysis. Intuitively, the role of ‘algorithm’ is played by a new notion of finite procedure, called Ω-invariance and inspired by physics, from Nonstandard Analysis. Moreover, the role of ‘proof’ is taken up by the Transfer Principle from Nonstandard Analysis. We obtain a number of results in Constructive Reverse Mathematics to illustrate the tight correspondence to Errett Bishop’s Constructive Analysis and the associated Constructive Reverse Mathematics.

Numerical Solution of Reacting Laminar Flow Heat and Mass Transfer in Ducts of Arbitrary Cross-Sections for Newtonian and Non-Newtonian Fluids

This study is concerned with the numerical analysis, formulation, programming and computation of steady, 3D conservation equations of reacting laminar flow heat and mass transfer in ducts of arbitrary cross-sections. The non-orthogonal boundary-fitted coordinate transformation method is applied to the Cartesian form of overall-continuity, momenta, energy and species-continuity equations, parabo...

Transfer Principle Proof Tactic for Nonstandard Analysis

This paper describes a type constructor for nonstandard extensions of arbitrary types, generalizing the previous formalization of nonstandard analysis in Isabelle by Fleuriot and Paulson [1]. In addition to numeric types, nonstandard extensions of function spaces and set types also prove useful—they provide an elegant way to define internal functions and internal sets. The paper also describes ...

Performance of SST k-ω Turbulence Model for Computation of Viscous Drag of Axisymmetric Underwater Bodies

This paper presents 2-D finite volume method for computation of viscous drag based on Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations. Computations are performed on bare submarine hull DREA and six axisymmetric bodies of revolution with a number of length-diameter (L/D) ratios ranging from 4 to 10. Both structured and unstructured grids are used to discretize the domain around the bodies. Diff...

Nonstandard finite difference schemes for differential equations

In this paper, the reorganization of the denominator of the discrete derivative and nonlocal approximation of nonlinear terms are used in the design of nonstandard finite difference schemes (NSFDs). Numerical examples confirming then efficiency of schemes, for some differential equations are provided. In order to illustrate the accuracy of the new NSFDs, the numerical results are compared with ...

Sweep Line Algorithm for Convex Hull Revisited

Convex hull of some given points is the intersection of all convex sets containing them. It is used as primary structure in many other problems in computational geometry and other areas like image processing, model identification, geographical data systems, and triangular computation of a set of points and so on. Computing the convex hull of a set of point is one of the most fundamental and imp...
